F. Harding was established in 1949 by Frank Harding who with the aid of a single employee and one machine, started winding silk for the parachute industry from a rented property in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
F Harding was incorporated in 1954 and purchased its first factory, known as Waterside Mill in 1970. With continued growth the Company needed larger facilities and in 1974 purchased Kershaw Mill on Bond Street, Macclesfield, shown on the picture on the right, which was the company's Head Office until the move to its present premises in 2004.
In 2004 the company took the opportunity to acquire a new site that increased the size of its facilities from 55,000sq.ft of the two existing mills to 185,000sq.ft of production and warehousing space located in 23 acres of beautiful Cheshire Countryside in Langley.
The premises are located to the east of Langley Village approximately three miles south-east of Macclesfield town centre. The premises are located immediately off Langley Road which affords access to the main A523 Macclesfield Bypass which links Macclesfield with Manchester (18 miles to the north), and Leek (approximately 14 miles to the south).
The new site allows the Company to offer an enhanced service to its customers, particularly through the ability to provide substantial secure warehousing capability, as well as more efficient processing due to simplified factory layout.
The company is still owned and run by the Harding family and despite the ongoing market pressures, continues to trade profitably. The management of F Harding believes in the importance of continual investment in the business and as such has invested not only in the new site, but also in additional equipment and personnel.
Our vision for F Harding is to see it continue and develop into:
